In 1976, Jacques Mayol broke the 100m barrier, setting a new world record for freediving. On November 4, 1981, he made another dive to 101m, a feat heavily publicized by Omega, with the Seamaster 120 Quartz on his wrist. This dive is often described as a record-breaking performance or a symbolic comeback at 54! (Old-school marketing, which I love 😊) I had been looking for this model for several years, but it was difficult to find one in good condition, until the day I found one on eBay in the United States. I remember staying up until 2:30 a.m. to bid live 😬 Today, it's a watch I wear regularly and truly appreciate; it's a real favorite. I love its 38mm diameter, its Royal Oak-style bracelet, and of course, its slim 7.5mm profile! Be aware, however, that the early Omega quartz watches from the 1980s can be temperamental, according to my watchmaker!
